Build here.Go global.

We bring ideas to life and take them global. Uttarmark is the North America co-founder for Indian startups expanding to Canada and the US. You build the product. We build the market.

You have the product.
You don't have the market.

The next step isn't another feature. It's finding the customers, structure and capital that make the product travel.

Most Indian pre-seed teams hit the same wall. The product works. The Indian market is competitive and price-sensitive. The money and customers are in North America, in Canada and the US — but getting there means cold emails, incorporation questions and investors who want someone on the ground.

Hiring for it is expensive. Flying over for two weeks doesn't work. Agencies charge you a retainer and disappear.

So we don't sell you a service.
We join you.

A co-founder for the other side of the world.

Not a consultant. Not an agency. Not an investor writing a cheque. We take equity in the business and earn it by owning one job completely: North America, from our base in Toronto.

01

Incorporation & structure

A Toronto-based Canadian corporation, banking, accounting and the paperwork that makes you a real North American company, ready to sell in Canada and the US.

02

Business development

Cold outreach, demos, pilots and first paying customers in Canada and the US — done by someone in the time zone, with a local number and entity.

03

Fundraising access

Introductions to Canadian angel groups, incubators and accelerators. We prepare you for those rooms and sit in them with you.

04

Go-to-market

Positioning, pricing and the unglamorous work of figuring out who actually signs the cheque.

05

The cost of all of it

Incorporation, accounting, travel, setup and our own time come out of our pocket, not your runway.

One side builds.
One side opens doors.

01

You pitch.

Send a link to what you've built — a prototype, demo or beta. We want to see the product, not a business plan.

02

We dig in.

A few conversations about the market, the team and whether North America is genuinely the right next move.

03

We agree terms.

Co-founder equity, defined scope and milestones, in writing, with lawyers on both sides.

04

We build the market.

Entity, first customers and investor conversations. You keep shipping.

Not for everyone.
That's intentional.

A fit if you are

  • An Indian startup at pre-seed, with no institutional round raised yet.
  • A technical founder or founding team with engineering in-house.
  • Already building — a rough prototype, demo or beta is enough.
  • Building a technology product, software or hardware with real software.
  • Willing to bring on a co-founder and treat them like one.

Not a fit if you are

  • Looking for someone to build the product for you.
  • Still at the idea stage with nothing running.
  • A services or consulting business.
  • Post-Series A or looking for a sales hire.
  • Looking for capital. We invest effort, not money.
A consultant's outcome is a fee.A co-founder's outcome is the company.
A consultant bills you monthly and leaves when the invoice stops. A co-founder's outcome is your outcome. We only make money if the company is worth something. That is the entire point of the structure.

Applying to Y Combinator?
Here's how we're different.

Indian founders who want to go global often start by looking at accelerators like Y Combinator, Techstars or Antler. They're good at what they do: a programme, a cohort, a cheque and a demo day. What they don't do is sit in North America and build your market with you. That one job is what Uttarmark takes on, and you can do both.

Building something that
doesn't have a category yet?

Good. We take new innovation seriously. A genuinely new technology, research coming out of a lab, or a product creating a new behaviour — show us the prototype. The thing you've built is the only real evidence on the table.

From India's startup cities
to Canada and the US.

Wherever you're building in India, the setup is the same. Your team keeps shipping at home. We build the market from Toronto. Calls are scheduled to work in both IST and Eastern Time.

You don't need to relocate, open an office abroad or hire a sales team in North America to find out whether your product sells there. That's the work a co-founder on the ground does.

Questions worth
asking early.

Pitch us what you've built. If it's a fit, we join as your North America co-founder: we set up a Toronto-based Canadian corporation, find your first customers in Canada and the US, and open doors to investors, while your team keeps building in India.

No. Accelerators like Y Combinator run a time-boxed programme and invest money. We don't run a batch or write cheques. We join as a co-founder and do the North American work with you for the long run. You can do both.

It depends on the stage, what's already built and how much of the market we're taking on. It's a real co-founder stake, negotiated once, up front, with vesting.

No. We contribute the North American operation and cover its costs. We don't write cheques into the company.

No. You stay in India and build. We'd expect you to visit for key meetings and demo days.

It stays yours and stays running. The structure depends on your situation and gets decided with accountants and lawyers.

A small number at a time. This only works if it's real work, and real work doesn't scale to twenty.

Pitch anyway, as long as something is built. A rough prototype counts. An idea with nothing running doesn't.

Yes. We work from Toronto, and the market we build is North America, which includes the US. Where your first customers are depends on your product, and we work that out together.

It usually helps: many customers and investors prefer to contract with a local entity. Setting up and running a Toronto-based Canadian corporation is part of what we do. The exact structure is decided with accountants and lawyers.

Founders anywhere in India: Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Pune, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and beyond. Everything runs remotely, with calls that suit IST.
